Hands On Shows:

New to the physics van in 1996 were our "hands on" shows. They were developed to train Physics Van volunteers to do demonstrations, and to let the kids get more involved with the shows. They are usually done for smaller audiences (50 or less), often at or after school programs.

Instead of our usual audience/stage format, the show is broken up into several "stations" much like a science fair. After a brief introduction the kids are split up into small groups, which visit each station in turn. At each station a Physics Van volunteer explains the demonstration to the group, then the kids get to actually DO the demo themselves for about 5-10 minutes, under the volunteer's supervision.
